About Avelo Airlines

Another new entrant to the U.S. airline industry, Avelo serves secondary destinations with its ultra low cost model. They essentially create hubs for uncommon airports like New Haven and offer flights to destinations throughout the East Coast and beyond. If you live near these airports and Avelo goes where you want to go, great. However, Avelo hasn't really found its groove as one of the first carriers people think of when booking flights in the United States.

Who Should Fly Avelo Airlines?

Since Avelo's route network is very unique, one might find themselves in trouble being in the market for an Avelo flight and not finding the connection they need. But if you are near a secondary airport where Avelo flies and they go where you want to go, you might have found a diamond in the rough. Their barebones amenity packages and limited brand recognition mean most travelers don't think of them first but if you know about them and the route works, it could be the right call.

What the Data Shows

Avelo's operation is on a much smaller scale than all other airlines flying in the United States. They are struggling to get out of that infancy stage and establish themselves as a real option in the airline space. However, change might be on the way. Avelo has placed an order for 50 Embraer E195-E2 jets with delivery expected from 2027, which should significantly grow their route network throughout the East Coast and beyond.

The current fleet data shows a small, all-Boeing 737 operation with modest load factors consistent with an airline still building demand on new routes. The E195-E2 order signals Avelo is playing a longer game. Keep an eye on this one.
